The Cart is getting out & about!
The Mobile Story Exchange Cart had its first test run yesterday and did we have fun or what!
Starting from Freedom Plaza, Maria Tran and Thuy Nguyen were amped and ready to take the Cart to the Cabramatta people, dressed in bright yellow One Day in Cabramatta tee’s.
The Cart stopped people from Freedom Plaza and all the way up John’s Street – the main strip in Cabramatta as Maria and Thuy greeted shop owners and passers by.
Most have watched Once Upon a Time in Cabramatta on Sunday evening and were happy with the stories told as part of the documentary. They were also impressed with the Cart, and the community initiative to invite more stories, drawings or words to be part of a commemorative book for the community once the series ends.
Maria, Thuy and plenty more One Day in Cabramatta ambassadors will take to Freedom Plaza again this afternoon. Also find the Mobile Story Exchange Cart out and about Cabramatta for Lunar New Year Festival this weekend!!
We’ll have chilled cups of chrysanthemum tea in exchange for your stories. And if you don’t want to write anything then all good, our One Day in Cabramatta ambassadors are there for you to chat.
Hope to see you there!

As a first generation Australian, throughout the ’60′s and ’70′s, I spent time visiting relatives and friends in Cabramatta . From the ’80′s I chose to spend time there, sampling the food and cultural diversity of a community so different to the European one I came to know through my parents and the Australian one I accepted as my own . Yes, the changes from the ’60′s to the ’90′s were dramatic but it was, at least always vibrant by its continuing cultural differences and led me to want to learn more and also appreciate all the diversity in the world.
