Tropfest in Parramatta – Meet the Filmmaker and Info Session for Western Sydney Filmmakers

You may have heard that Tropfest, one of Australias most recognisable film festivals, is moving to Parramatta. Its a great opportunity for the Festival, engaging with new audiences and relocating to the beautiful Parramatta Park.

Tropfest and Information and Cultural Exchange are working together to host a Meet the Filmmaker/Info Session evening here at I.C.E. in Parramatta. Its a chance to hear from Tropfest Alumni Darren Ashton (Director, Here Come the Habibs) on his experience of the festival and what it has done for his career, and find out what’s new for the Festival in 2017, how you can submit and what this means for your film.

You might be wondering:

  • How could being a Tropfest finalist affect your career as a filmmaker
  • What is the application process
  • Who owns the rights once a film has been screened
  • What audiences does the Festival hope to attract to the new Tropfest
  • Does Tropfest like a particular style of short film
  • Does the Festival have a policy around encouraging gender representation and diversity targets
