New Media Workshops for NGOs
ICE’s Community IT Program recently ran a series of New Media and IT skills training workshops with community workers in the Parramatta area. Run in September and early October, the 6-week program covered topics such as blogging, video camera operation and editing, digital photography, archiving images, music and community radio and showed examples of communities being engaged to participate in these projects here in Australia and around the world.
These sessions, supported financially by Parramatta City Council, were held at ICE’s Switch Multimedia and Digital Arts Access Centre.
In early 2007, The Community IT Program will be encouraging other NGOs to participate in similar workshops run at ICE and at their organisations using mobile IT equipment.
The Community IT Program aims to solidify this model and take it accross other LGAs in Western Sydney. If you would like further information on how your organisation can take part, please contact Liliana on 9897 5744 ext 9 or communityinfo@ice.org.au.
