A fantastic turn out at Switch for the Launch of the Commemorative Book created from the stories and people of Cabramatta. With Lion Dancers, Vietnamese rolls and Coffee buns and lots of love and support in the room, we handed out 10 hard copy books to local organisations such as the VCA, Fairfield and Cabramatta Libraries, Council and Local Schools. We also printed a numer of soft copy books to share far and wide and celebrate the outcomes of the project.

We look forward to sharing a web version with you here soon, as soon as we can compress the 230 pages to a file size up-loadable.

Thanks to everyone for their support of this project and especially our partners, SBS, Popperbox and The Lot

Distinguished American linguist, social scientist and human rights campaigner Professor Noam Chomsky is often described as one of the West’s most influential intellectuals in the cause of peace, and the most significant challenger of unjust power and as an individual who is not only brilliant but also heroic.

Late last year Chomsky came to Australia to receive the 2011 Sydney Peace Prize and cited that the highlight of his visit had been his experience at Cabramatta High School. Students there had been studying his work and celebrated his visit at their Voices for Peace Day. ICE was there to capture this auspicious occasion and you can click here to experience a truly inspiring celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity for yourself.
