Train the Trainer - Project Round-up

» ICE has recently wrapped up the Train the Trainer project – the first of six different digital storytelling workshops being held as part of the Digi Diaries project. Eleven creative and cultural leaders from Western Sydney were trained in digital storytelling production and facilitation and are now running their own workshops around Western Sydney. More »

Digital Stories on the Big Screen

» A selection of ICE’s digital stories have been selected to screen at the upcoming Parramatta Park Movie Marathon event. The digital stories will be screened in between a number of blockbuster feature films at this free outdoor event. More »

2010 Community Cultural Development Grants

» ICE and Fairfield City Council have teamed up to provide free information sessions and a grant writing workshop/mentoring program for those interested in applying for a 2010 Community Cultural Development Grant. More »

Duets Volume 1 - Now in stores

» Duets Volume 1 – the 6th release on ICE’s Suburban Grooves record label – was launched at Melt on November 27, 2009. The CD is the first commercial release on ICE’s record label, Suburban Grooves and is currently available in JB Hi-Fi stores around Australia and on iTunes internationally. More »

Support ICE at Project 5

» Come on down to Project 5 at Cockle Bay from 17 – 19 December (7-9pm) and 20 December (4-6pm) and see some of Sydney’s best live urban art in action. It’s a four-day live painting and hip-hop music event and the murals created this weekend will be sold at a charity auction in 2010, with proceeds going to support ICE’s programs for supporting young artists in Western Sydney. ICE is relocating

From 22 February we will be relocating from our Parramatta premises for six months. Thanks to the support of the Federal and State Government we are undertaking a major refurbishment of our new centre. We are moving to Macquarie House, Level 4, 169 Macquarie Street, Parramattta (corner of Smith Street). Our phone and fax numbers will stay the same. More »

Some Big Outcomes for Short Films

ICE congratulates Fadia Abboud, Gary Paramanathan and Vanna Seang who have enjoyed great success from their short films over the past few months. Fadia’s film Big Trouble Little Fish was shown at Flickerfest in January and is soon to be screened in London. Gary and Vanna’s film ‘Die’ was listed as one of the top 60 films by Tropfest. More »

Koori Stories Digital Storytelling

ICE and Cranebrook Neighbourhood Centre are partnering to run a new digital storytelling project from March through to June this year. Koori Stories will focus on the personal stories of the Aboriginal young people and their families who live in the Cranebrook area. More »

Tell your story through screen or photography

ICE invites young people (aged 12 – 17) who speak another language other than English and who have a brother or sister with a disability to come along and express themselves at a new series of exciting and fun workshops to be run in partnership with the Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association. Parenting Stories Hits the Studio

The team from ICE’s Parenting Stories project are busy in the studio recording a series of plays in English, Dinka, Juba Arabic, Arabic, Swahili and Lingala. Once completed, these radio plays about parenting experiences will be broadcast on SBS and community radio and distributed to community organisations around Western Sydney. More »

Joint Project launch a smashing success

On December 10 we held a joint launch for the Yallah! What’s Your Story? and Pacific Specific projects. The event, held at Auburn Community Development Network, was attended by more than 100 music lovers, film buffs, young people and family members. More »

Create Media: celebrating a stunning debut year

In 2009 Create Media debuted as a project that brought together talented, young refugees and migrants, and gave them the opportunity to develop their digital media craft as well as their future employment and business possibilities. So far, the project has been a stunning success! More »

Cybermohalla: new international connections between Delhi and Sydney

Earlier this month ICE and the Listening Project jointly hosted international guests from the acclaimed Cybermohalla project in India. Over 30 media practitioners, artists, cultural planners, community workers and researchers gathered to hear our guests talk about, screen and share some of the outcomes and practices of Cybermohalla and its locality labs in some of Delhi’s rapidly changing and disadvantaged neighbourhoods. ICE at Making Links 2009

ICE was a key partner in another successful Making Links conference in November. Linking individuals, organisations and groups working at the intersection of social action and IT, this year’s conference highlighted the theme of ‘sustaining communities in tough times.’ More »
