Granville Directory Project
ICE’s Community IT Program has been working in partnership with Parramatta City Council and local Granville residents to produce a directory featuring the personal stories and significant places of Granville. The Directory will also include listings of the services and resources available to the Granville community.
Research was undertaken in 2005-06, which included engaging residents in contributing stories and images about their suburb, histories of significant places, as well as information about services, organisations and facilities.
The project has also incorporated skills and creative development opportunities for residents, involving a series of workshops in computer skills and graphic design conducted by local artist and Granville resident Marian Abboud. The workshops, held at Switch Multimedia & Digital Arts Access Centre, helped to develop the form, feel and layout of the booklet.
The project was supported by a range of local services and organisations, including an advisory group comprising Granville Multicultural Community Centre, Wargon and Burra Aboriginal Service, Granville Library, and Granville Youth and Community Recreation Centre.
