Hip-Hop 101: stand up and be heard
Young people with a passion for urban music who are interested in developing their lyric-writing and music production skills, are invited to participate in an urban music program being offered by Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE).
The introductory course, Hip Hop 101, targets unemployed 15-22 year-olds and runs from 6 February to March 15, 2007 at ICE’s Granville-based, SWITCH Multimedia and Digital Arts Access Centre and will be presented by resident hip-hop artist, MC Trey who is a recipient of the Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference grant. She will be assisted by DJ Nick Toth and industry guests.
Participants will learn to write lyrics, learn to use digital music programs and record their songs at SWITCH. Hip-hop 101 will run from 11am to 3pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays for 6 weeks. Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance and have made their own original songs.
To be eligible to participate, you must live in Western Sydney and you must attend the information session taking place at 11am on Wednesday 31 January, 2007 at Information and Cultural Exchange, AMWU Building, Ground Floor, corner of Good Street and Parramatta Road, Granville.
