A MONTH OF SUNDAYS. 25 February-18 March 2007

The 2007 “Sydney Arab Film Festival” is underway, screening an exciting program over A MONTH OF SUNDAYS until March 17, at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta.

Be entertained and engaged by local and international fictional screen stories, gutsy documentaries, razor-sharp shorts and the latest features from the Arab world. A spectrum of cinematic treats genuinely reflecting the complexity and diversity of Arab culture and experiences.

Visiting international guests include Palestinian filmmaker Nizar Hassan, and Eliane Raheb, filmmaker and Festival Director of Ayam Bairut a-Cinemaiya (Cinema Days of Beirut).

Supplemented by a Wednesday Matinee Program featuring a brief, beautiful selection of shorts and the local feature Jammin in the Middle E.

TONE: AUDIO-VISUAL EXPERIMENTAL WORKS BY ARAB ARTISTS

A parallel program of experimental screen-based artworks by Arab artists, presented by Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in partnership with ICE. Curated by Khaled Sabsabi.

Bilal Khbeiz will be visiting the Festival from Lebanon. A poet, essayist and cultural journalist, Bilal will present on new media and images and responses to the war in Lebanon.

Pressure Points is presented in partnership with the Writing and Society Research Group at the University of Western Sydney, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and Information and Cultural Exchange.
