Pakistan-born Mohsin Hamid’s compelling new novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist is set against the backdrop of the political unrest in the wake of 9/11.
HAMID was born in Lahore, Pakistan, where he grew up. He attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School, worked for several years as a management consultant in New York and as a freelance journalist in Lahore, and now lives mainly in London. His first novel, Moth Smoke, was published in 10 languages, won a Betty Trask Award, and was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award. His essays and journalism have appeared in Time, The New York Times and the Guardian, among others. His new novel is The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
PAULA ABOOD has worked with refugee and migrant communities for 20 years. Her writing for radio, film and text includes Of Middle Eastern Appearance and The Arab as Spectacle.
