Bystander launch

ICE Chairperson Ross Gibson and collaborator Kate Richards launched ‘Bystander’ this week.

This eerily immersive video installation is based on over 500,000 images of Sydney crime scenes that were recovered, uncatalogued, from floods. Gibson and Richards have created an artificially-intelligent story generator, a space that actively responds to the presence of the audience, shifting and reacting to their mass and mood.

Expect to be drawn into a spirit-world, a nostalgic place inhabited by the victims and perpetrators of crime on Sydney’s post war streets.
