Y-Flickz

The Y-Flickz youth film forum and shorts screening on October 31 was a massive success.

Five young filmmakers screened their works and received valuable audience feedback. Fairfield-based filmmaker Maria Tran won a year’s subscription to Inside Film magazine for her short film ‘The Elevator’.

Guest of honour, filmmaker and former Tropfest winner, Craig Anderson, presented the award to Maria, whose film had received the most applause from the audience.

Maria’s short, which was made as part of Youth Digital Cultures
project, a partnership between the Foundation for Young Australians
and ICE, is about four different people all trapped in an underground
carpark.

‘The Elevator’ was filmed in Granville and made at the Switch multimedia and digital arts access centre.

The Y-Flickz forum was presented by the ICE Youth Digital Cultures Project and the Western Sydney Film Forum. ICE’s Youth Digital Cultures Program is a partnership with the Foundation for Young Australians.
