Suburban Crossings Website Launched

ICE is pleased to present the Suburban Crossings website, featuring mapped images of Western Sydney taken by young African refugees.

In November 2007, Belgian photographer Anne Ransquin spent time in Western Sydney teaching digital photography to young people, newly arrived from Africa. The group spent time on the streets of Fairfield, taking photographs of the people and places that are meaningful to them. These images were then put onto an interactive digital map, which can be seen at www.suburbancrossings .net .suburbancrossings.net

The young people involved in the project were Rose Mark, Concey Bosco, Filbert Bosco, Denis Sado, Richard Tombek and Young Osbert.

The Suburban Crossings project is a partnership between Information and Cultural Exchange and the School of Communication Arts, University of Western Sydney, with support from Campbelltown City Council and Artstart.
