Great support for Refugee Allstars

Sunshine, good vibes, great music and dancing were all in abundance when ICE’s Refugee Allstars performed live for the first time at Holroyd City Council’s ArtSpark Carnivale on May 16.

The event was attended by some notable guests including The Honourable Laurie Ferguson MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services and Ms Julie Owens, MP – Member for Parramatta.

Participants from Sierra Leone, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Fiji and the Phillipines performed original songs which were created during the two week Urban Music and Digital Storytelling workshops. Hip-hop artists and course trainers, True Vibenation, DJ Nick Toth and MC Trey also performed. The digital and lyrical stories produced during the course were also screened on the day.

Thank you to Laurie Ferguson, Julie Owens, the community and the Australian Government’s Diverse Australia program for supporting this event. For more information, visit www.harmony.gov.au
