Cybermohalla: new international connections between Delhi and Sydney
Earlier this month ICE and the Listening Project (a research partnership between researchers at four different universities) jointly hosted international guests from the acclaimed Cybermohalla (Cyberneighbourhoods) project in India.
Over 30 media practitioners, artists, cultural planners, community workers and researchers gathered to hear Prabhat Kumar Jha (program coordinator at Ankur: Society for Alternatives in Education), Ravikant Sharma (Associate Fellow with the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies / Sarai), and Sophea Lerner, sonic media artist / researcher with Sarai-CSDS in Delhi talk about, screen and share some of the outcomes and practices of Cybermohalla and its locality labs in some of Delhi’s rapidly changing and disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
In the afternoon, we were given the opportunity to share and discuss their work in closer detail and also to hear from local projects. A podcast of the morning presentation will be available soon, and we’ll also look forward to some further collaborations with Cybermohalla in the future!
Thank you to Vandana Ram who afterwards led us on a tour of the Imperial Cargo: Coolies and Calico exhibition which is on at the Parramatta Heritage Centre until 7 February 2010.
