From animation and drama to documentary and comedy, immerse yourself in stories of strength, hope and survival at Iraq on Film. Stories of superheroes and soccer games, to the destruction and sadness of war and loss, this event will deepen your connections to Iraqi stories and cultures through film, music and art.
Enjoy a number of short films by Iraqi filmmakers at the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery. Two of the films have been created by local artists who will be on-hand to introduce the films on the night. The event will also feature Iraqi folkloric music by Bashar, Martin and Yousif from the Choir of Love, children’s craft activities facilitated by artist and arts educator Nicole Barakat and traditional Iraqi tea, coffee and food.
Iraq on Film is presented by Fairfield City Museum and Gallery, Information and Cultural Exchange, Arab Film Festival Australia and the Iraqi Australia University Graduates’ Forum and sponsored by Panorama Iraqi Newspaper.
This event has been developed as part of the current exhibition, 1001 Nights in Fairfield, an exhibition exploring local Iraqi cultures, stories and art.
