Upstream
June 2011
Wrap Up blurb
On Friday 24 June, seven digital stories were screened as part of Upstream – Digital Stories of Water and Place. A packed-out cinema filled Hoyts Westpoint Blacktown, as an international audience viewed these beautiful stories created by participants from newly arrived migrant and refugee groups in the Blacktown LGA.
The stories reflect the new experiences of water in Australia while reflecting on the uses of water in countries of origin.
UPSTREAM is one of the many projects created to get communities mobilised in sustainability concepts. Through music, dance, film, photography and artwork Water in the Landscape (WITL), a WSROC initiative funded by NSW Environmental Trust, brings people together in appreciating and caring for the water in their environment.
