What Is Ice?
What we do
Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) works at the intersection of arts, technology and community.
We make our home in one of Australia’s most dynamic and diverse regions, Greater Western Sydney. For over 25 years we’ve run a program of activities that enable communities and artists to tell the stories of this extraordinary place.

Our community
ICE work within a community with roots in 100 different nations. We are particularly respected for our success with newly arrived migrant and refugee communities, as well as young people. Our cultural development and arts programs involve thousands of people every year.
Our projects
We run dozens of exciting projects annually, but our flagship programs are the Switch Digital Arts Centre (in partnership with Parramatta Council), and Artfiles, the artist support program and online directory. ICE is also key producer for the Australia Council, a driving force behind the national Arab Film Festival and a key collaborator with the Sydney Festival and Tropfest.
Our story
In the ’80s ICE started off as a community information service operating out of a van, then expanded rapidly, developing innovative digital media and arts projects.
In 2010 we moved into our purpose-built, high-tech new home and welcomed on board a host of dynamic new staff. We now have a space to invite people to create, collaborate and explore digital technologies in the heart of Parramatta.
In essence, we are storytellers. We encourage people to take something from the inside, put it on the outside and share it with the world though digital mediums.
