If you happened to be walking through the streets of North Parramatta last Saturday night you might have stopped to wonder if a new club had opened at I.C.E. With the music pumping and the crowd forming (despite the rain) End of an AGE brought together many talented people to celebrate the creation, collaboration and experimentation that has been All Girl Electronic 2017.
Starting off the night, facilitator Del Lumanta put together an eclectic mix made up of participant tracks made in the 2017 workshops. The AGE Mix included tracks from Ailsa Liu, Alessandra Femenias, Gillian Kayrooz, Glitterlovelady, Liana Joy Molina, Lizeth, Mara Duke, Okuesha, Reesha Ann, Samantha Montaos, Stephanie Barahona, Sol, Taylor Hare, Victoria Saule and Zen.
After a beautiful Welcome to Country from Jacinta Tobin the night kicked off with performances from SILA, Taylor Hare, Miška, Glitterlovelady, Mikudx7, Tru, Clarissa Mei and Carley Austin. Each performer absolutely killed it overpowering the rainy night with electro pop, soul, RnB, house and techno sounds.
Closing the night we had three very special sets from facilitators Del Lumanta aka GAS, Nicola Morton and Hannah Lockwood. After getting the crowd dancing each took time post-set to show the interested crowd their array of hardware.
Topping it all off were beautiful video projections from Gillian Kayrooz setting the perfect glitchy, colour saturated atmosphere. End of an AGE also featured the captivating sound triggered installation from Ailsa Liu on display in the front foyer.
Thanks to Audio-Technica we also gave away a special prize pack including ATH-M20x Monitoring Headphones and AT2020 Condenser Microphone. All AGE participants at the showcase were invited to enter their names into a bowl with Facilitator Del Lumanta and mentor Sofie Loizou doing the honours. Ailsa Lui was the lucky winner, taking home the beginnings of her new studio.
Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and infuriating Sydney public transport to make it to End of an AGE. It was inspiring to see so many people come to support the incredible talents coming through All Girl Electronic. We can’t wait to see what they do next.
All Girl Electronic will return in 2018 with more workshops, performances and special events. Stay tuned!
