Exploring Design with Didi’s Tribe

Join Smitha, Shubhangi and Arpita from Didi’s Tribe in a meditative and creative exercise in pattern and design. Drawn from some of India’s traditional designs,Didi’s Tribe will take you through the process of painting your own calico bags and wooden art designs.

Take an afternoon off and join us for a light lunch of Indian snacks and learn the relaxing processes involved in traditional Indian motif design. Design inspiration comes from different Indian styles of painting including; Kalamkari, Madhubani, Ikkat and Bandhani designs. At the end of the day, take your creation home with you.

The workshop begins at 1:30 pm and finishes at 5 pm, but hours are flexible. All skill levels welcome. 

Handmade ceramic pieces including jewellery, homewares and decoration will be on display and available for sale.

About Didi’s Tribe:
Didi’s Tribe (meaning Sister’s Tribe) is a creative product and social enterprise development program for Multicultural women in Western Sydney. Didi’s Tribe builds the capacity of participants to create and market bespoke ceramic homewares designed in Indian tribal art forms.

Participants learn a range of skills including ceramic design transfer, branding and marketing, managing cash flow, business planning and delivery. Participants are engaged through workshops, excursions and mentorship. Didi’s Tribe is held on Wednesday mornings (term dates) and is now branching into further business enterprise development.
