Barkaa and Canine will headline two free, all-ages events at Information + Cultural Exchange (I.C.E.) on May 7 and 8 2021. Hosted by I.C.E. and City of Parramatta, these shows are all about celebrating the return of live music and all-ages spaces in West Sydney.

Saturday May 8 is a stacked bill, headlined by Barkaa, who Triple J claim as “one of the most exciting and powerful new rappers in Australian music”. The show will feature T-Breezy, fresh from performing on the Opera House Forecourt, Western Sydney R&B / Hip-Hop artist Seup who you will remember from I.C.E.’s 100%
, along with two of Mount Druitt’s finest; Manifold
who bring their socially conscious, soul flavoured hip-hop and local fave, 20 year old VV, who raps circles around other MC’s and doesn’t break a sweat.

Party Collective, The Fourth Chamber, will be adding to the vibe with a small skate run out back and their pop-culture inspired art throughout the warehouse.

Bring your board, bring your mates and celebrate live gigs coming back to the West.

BARKAA is a Malyangapa, Barkindji woman from Western New South Wales, now living in South West Sydney on Gandangara land. Music to BARKAA has been part of her journey to express herself, the truth and issues impacting First Nations people.

She has released her debut single, “For My Tittas”, in March 2020 and has made waves within her community with the “Pass The Ochre” challenge. She has completed numerous interviews, performed at a number of venues, as well as online events during the pandemic.

Canine is a hard and heavy five-piece from Sydney, featuring members of Pure Evil Trio, Thorax, Glory Hole and Shark Bait, Canine is headspinning, d-beat infused hardcore that absolutely crushes souls. Their album “In Dog Years, You’re Dead” is available via Blackwire Records now.

Australian Aboriginal rapper T Breezy hails from Inverell, NSW 2360, and now resides in Macquarie Fields, Western Sydney. His unique sound full of both aggression and hope is more reminiscent of US trap artists Lil TJay, Tee Grizzley and Young MA than the current Oz Drill focus.

T Breezy’s debut single ‘Posted’ achieves a balance that hasn’t yet been struck in Australia: blending powerful autotuned lyricism with a truly Australian accent to create something distinctively icey and hard-hitting.

Arafura are an anticolonial erratic hardcore three-piece who make music on unceded Gadigal Land in so-called sydney. They use discordant riffs, blast beats and piercing vocals to create cacophonous and chaotic sounds. Arafura have experimented with traditional music samples in reverence of vocalist A’isyiyah’s Batak and Jawa lineages. They write songs that celebrate ancestral strength and sunkissed brown bodies, and express solidarity with anticolonial resistance worldwide.

Seup is a Singer/Songwriter, R&B-come-HipHop Perth artist, based in Western Sydney. In 2019 Seup departed Australia to undertake a self-directed music program in Los Angeles, USA, to further develop his music and explore the themes of masculine emotional vulnerabilities and honesty. Giving credit to his church roots and the influences of the many talents he’s brushed path with, he strives to make “Timeless Art” with his music and performances. Currently working on a self-Produced visual project that looks at ways of falling in love in a contemporary society, as well as a project alongside L.A. based cohort “Potluck”, which hasn’t seen him release anything formally for 2 years. Within that time he’s been active throughout the scene performing live at a variety of venues across NSW, including the Oxford Art Factory (Sydney), Freda’s (Sydney), Uptowns Bar (Newcastle) and the Peppermint Club (LA).

RAGE are a 5 piece hardcore punk band bringing the fun back to hardcore with live shows that are frenzied and always a good time. This is Central Coast hardcore that gives a nod to skate punk and 80s hardcore. Short, sharp and heavy as.

Keepsake are a melodic hardcore band from Sydney, Australia. They are seeking to strike hard on their mission to blaze a trail in hardcore, and with complex drum patterns, subtle, yet intricate guitar melodies and soaring vocals, the scene is set for a sojourn into the spectrum of human emotion. Their debut EP ‘Slowburn’ was released on April 9th, 2021 featuring a video clip for ‘Passivity’, debuted on Dreambound.

A hip hop crew from Mounty, Manifold wear their love for the area proudly. Manifold are all about positive outlook, supporting community and uplifting peers.

VV, aka Varvie, is as legit as they come… You wouldn’t know from listening that VV is only 20 years old; she raps circles around other MCs and doesn’t break a sweat.
